Helena Hyesoo Kim, piano
Dr. Helena Hyesoo Kim, a Korean-Canadian pianist renowned for her sensitive and passionate playing, is dedicated to connecting with the community through music. She has performed at prominent venues across the Netherlands, France, Russia, Spain, Korea, Canada, and the United States, including Carnegie Hall in New York and Severance Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. Kim has appeared as a soloist with the Chopin Poland Chamber Orchestra and has earned numerous accolades in national and international competitions, including first prize at the Han Kuk Ilbo and the Russian Music Festival.
Kim has collaborated with a variety of musicians, including soprano Sumi Jo, trumpet player Jens Lindemann, pianist Curtis Pavey (in piano duo), clarinetist Christopher Pell, tuba player Chris Blaha, and saxophonist Todd Gaffke, with whom she released the CD Locally Sourced under the Neuma Recording label. Additionally, she has worked as a collaborative pianist at the College-Conservatory of Music, Northern Kentucky University, and the University of Akron, where she also held the position of Coordinator of Collaborative Piano.
Kim received her early musical training at Yewon Art School and the Saint-Petersburg Pre-Conservatory. She continued her studies at the University of British Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Music, and later at McGill University, where she completed a Master of Music. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Cincinnati.
An advocate for the works of underrepresented composers, Kim has a particular focus on female composers, including Caroline KyungA Ahn, Alexina Louie, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Galina Ustvolskaya. Her doctoral research explored unifying elements in the piano sonatas of Galina Ustvolskaya, works that were marginalized due to repression by the Soviet government. Kim currently teaches at the University of Missouri in Columbia, serves as a Vice President of Board at Odyssey Chamber Music Series, and a Coordinator of International Engagement of Korea at the Frances Clark Center.

Michael Klyce, Violin
Violinist Michael Klyce is a dynamic performer, widely recognized for his compelling stage presence and deep connection with audiences. He has appeared with numerous ensembles, including the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Germantown Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra, and previously served as a section violinist with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.
Michael has worked with many well-known pedagogues and chamber ensembles, including William Preucil and Annie Fullard, and has been awarded fellowships and scholarships from renowned summer music festivals including Madeline Island Chamber Music and the Brevard Summer Music Festival. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, he frequently performs in recital at the Village at Germantown and is a former winner of both the Memphis Youth Symphony and Germantown Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competitions.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Vanderbilt University, where he studied with Carolyn Huebl, and a Master of Music degree from Florida State University, where he studied with Shannon Thomas. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Iowa as a recipient of the prestigious Iowa Performance Fellowship, where he studies with Scott Conklin.
Medina, Clarinet
Medina is a contemporary and classical chamber musician and clarinetist based in New York City. Medina has performed in New York’s most prestigious halls, ranging from Avery Fisher to Carnegie Hall. Medina’s playing has been described as: “…dynamic and exotic with the virtuosic writing pulled off flawlessly.” by the Examiner, “ethereal” by Sound Word Sight, and has been recognized for her “…extraordinary breath control” by the Classical Voice of North Carolina. Medina has collaborated with Chamber Music Silicon Valley’s Primal Reboot Summer Festival, Chamber Music Society of New Paltz, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and Capital City Concerts of Vermont and is the recipient of the City Corps Grant with composer Rachel Fogarty.
Medina’s expertise has brought her to both coasts of the United States, working with musicians as a concert clinician and teaching artist. Her mission as an educator is to guide her students in discovering their musical voice. Medina has served as faculty in the woodwind department at Alliance University School of Music in Manhattan and has presented entrepreneurship to musicians at West Virginia University, the University of Missouri School of Music, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro College of Visual and Performing Arts.
