Biography

Don Sarlin, guitarist and songwriter, began his musical career in his late teens on tour with Van Morrison, David Bromberg and others, playing numerous storied and diverse venues including Boston Symphony Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Massey Hall, the Isle of Wight Festival and the Fillmore West.  He went on to tour internationally with Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul and Mary), R&B singer Esther Phillips ("What a Difference a Day Makes”), Dean Friedman (“Ariel”) and others, appearing on SNL and other TV shows. Wearying of the road, he embarked on a successful business career, only to return to performing and songwriting, inspired by the gifted artists with whom he’d worked.

He writes what he calls “screenplay songs”, capturing characters, a plot, a place and a time, and performs memorable solo guitar instrumentals as well.  He’s also been known to share stories of his remarkable and sometimes terrifying adventures as a kid on the road.  When he’s not performing on his own, he can be heard with The TriSonics, the acoustic group he co-founded that features guitar, dobro, cello and bass with three genre-jumping instrumental albums to date.   His music can be found at donsarlin.com.  Check it out!
