BETSEY PETERS-EPSTEIN
Betsey Peters- Epstein began her career at the age of eleven as Yum Yum in the Mikado. She was active in the Madison Civic Opera, performing the role of Blanche in Dialogue of the Carmelites, Violetta in La Traviata, and Poucette in Manon (the first simulcast opera production in the United States). Her early music roles include Speranza in Orfeo and The Queen in Balthazar's Feast. In 1996-1999 she performed the role of The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors in Massachusetts. Ms. Peters-Epstein been soloist with chorales such as the Westchester Chorale, the Madison Civic Chorus, and the Williamstown Chamber Music Society. She was featured on Kol Yisrael (state radio). She was broadcast on Vatican radio in 2000. Part of her program included the first Jewish music ever performed on Vatican radio. Through Merkin Hall she collaborated with Masha Benya, a famed Yiddish radio star, who prepared her for many concerts for the Congress for Yiddish culture and concerts at Abraham Goodman House (part of the Sidor Belarsky prize). Along with her husband Daniel Epstein, pianist, she has performed in chamber music festivals such as Music in Ouray, Music at Angel Fire, and Market Square concerts in Harrisburg, PA. She has participated in many benefit concerts for Jewish causes such as Hebrew Union College (her alma mater) and The New Israel Fund.
Betsey Peters-Epstein is Cantor Emerita at Temple Sholom in Cedar Grove, NJ. Where she served as Cantor for 18 years.
DANIEL EPSTEIN
Pianist Daniel Epstein made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Eugene Ormandy. He has performed with many of America’s major orchestras, including San Francisco Symphony, Dallas and Houston Symphonies, Detroit Symphony, and Rochester Philharmonic. He has performed recitals in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and in major venues throughout the world. As pianist and founding member of the famed Raphael Trio, for the past 33 years he has performed virtually the entire piano trio repertoire. The Trio appears regularly in New York, London, Vienna, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, as well as numerous other musical centers throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has collaborated with many renowned string quartets, including the Ying, American, and Talich, and has played with members of the Juilliard and Guarneri quartets as well as many other distinguished chamber musicians and soloists. He is co-founder and director of two music festivals and a chamber music workshop, and has been a member of the piano faculties of Manhattan School of Music since 2001 and Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University since 2007. His recordings may be heard on RCA, Sony, Nonesuch, ASV, Newport Classic, and Unicorn-Kanchana.
