“We cannot do it without you!”
SURRY — Surry Barn has announced its summer season, and the lineup for this year includes more than 30 events ranging from classical, jazz, singer-songwriters, as well as Japanese Taiko drumming, a flamenco guitarist and more. There will also be art exhibitions and even a series of Charlie Chaplin movies as the organization celebrates its 10th anniversary season.
Artistic Director Alan Wittenberg noted that music has rung out from the barn since 1965. In the mid-1980s, Walter Nowick created the Surry Opera Company to foster understanding and friendship with the people of the Soviet Union. It was a transformational endeavor that was recognized internationally and was highlighted in major media network features, including the New York Times and People magazine articles.
“We strive to continue this legacy, and we pride ourselves as a unique and vital local asset that fosters culture, concerts, community, and connection,” Wittenberg said.
The summer season kicked off on June 15 when the Ad Libitum chamber music ensemble performed music ranging from Bach to Martinu and Ibert.
